Favorite reads of 2015

What were your favorite books of 2015?

I know what mine was: The Lightening-Struck Heart by TJ Klune. I even bought the paperback AND the audiobook, and I listened to the whole thing, even though I don’t usually do audiobooks. I also loved How to be a Normal Person by the same author. He’s an auto-buy, really.

I also loved (in no particular order):

*The Rebuilding Year (reread) and the sequel, Life, Some Assembly Required, by Kaje Harper.

*The Minnesota Christmas series by Heidi Cullinan

*Latakia by J.F. Smith-this one really surprised me. It was chosen for me for a challenge and I didn’t think I’d like it.

*The Prescott College series by Lisa Henry and J.A. Rock

*The Lost Gods series by Megan Derr-again, chosen for a challenge. I don’t usually read fantasy, but I loved this series.

*Kick at the Darkness by Keira Andrews, because there aren’t enough zombie MM books out there. I also loved Valor on the Move by the same author.

*Rattlesnake by Kim Fielding

*Shawn’s Law by Renae Kaye

*In the Absence of Light by Adrienne wilder

*The Boys on the Mountain by John Inman-not for the faints of heart

There are so many other books I loved this year, but I can’t write about all of them, unfortunately. So, what were yours?

Jayden on Extasy Books

Happy new year, everyone!

Jayden releases tomorrow on http://www.extasybooks.com/Jayden/ so here’s an excerpt and the cover 🙂

Jayden slumped on the couch in Keenan’s office and Heath followed him. Keenan sat crossed-legged on the coffee table in front of them, ignoring the noises the wood made when he did. He noticed Heath glancing at Keenan, but he didn’t say anything.

“So, am I scaring you?”

Heath startled and Jayden bit his lower lip in an effort not to laugh.

“Sorry?”

Keenan waved at both of them. “You’re not as stealthy as you think you are. And the walls have ears in this house.”

“Yeah, yours,” Jayden answered. “Especially when you place bugs around.”

“I can’t believe you’re bringing this up again! It was the one time, but no one’s letting me forget about it. First you make me sound like I’m a monster, then you’re afraid your mate won’t like me?”

Jayden grinned. He knew Keenan wasn’t serious, but Heath’s glance bounced between the two of them. “Not a monster, no, but a snoop and a smartass, yes.”

Keenan huffed. “I swear I can’t believe you. Usually it takes a chocolate chip cookie to shut you up, but your mate pops up and I have to work especially hard to get you to talk. Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Cookie?” Heath asked, and Jayden was happy with the interruption.

Keenan grinned. “Yup. The chocolate chip ones. Although I’m betting you have better ways to shut him up, huh?”

Jayden blushed and reached over to slap Keenan’s knee. “Can we get to the point, please?”

“Hey, he needs my help to learn how to deal with you.”

Heath snuck an arm around Jayden’s waist and pulled him closer, making Jayden blush again. “I think I’ll be fine on my own, thank you. After all, it’s not like I have anything better to do than getting to know Jayden and finding out how to deal with him.”

Keenan leaned forward with interest obvious in his eyes. “Ooooh, I sense a secret there. Want to tell Uncle Keenan what happened?”

Jayden grimaced. “Uncle Keenan? Seriously?”

Keenan shrugged. “I just came back from playing with the kids, sorry. And you have to admit that Uncle Keenan sounds just fine.”

Heath looked confused, so Jayden patted his chest. “I think it’s time to tell him.”

Heath sighed. “Yeah, sure.”

“I can ask questions if you’d rather do it like that,” Keenan butted in. “Like, where did you come from? I went to bed last night and I’m pretty sure Jayden was still single then. Mateless. Totally. Unless you count Ajator, of course.”

Jayden blushed fiercely, but before he could say anything, Heath asked, “Who’s Ajator?”

“His vibrator.”

Jayden buried his face against Heath’s chest and wished he never had to come out.

“His…vibrator?” Heath asked, sounding puzzled.

“Yup. You know, Ajator the vibrator. I admit it’s not a really good name, but I looked up baby names ending in –ator and didn’t find anything better.”

“You looked up baby names to name a vibrator?”

“Sure. Where else should I have looked?”

“I’m not sure how to answer that.”

Jayden groaned and looked up. “Please, just let it go, or he’ll go on and on.”

“And you don’t want me to know about Ajator?”

Jayden wanted to cry and laugh at the same time. Damn. “Not right now, no.”

“I’m sure he’ll show you if you ask nicely. I helped him pick it out, you know?” Keenan helpfully added, and Jayden hid his face again.

“What have I done to earn this? What?” he mumbled, ignoring how Keenan was going on and on about the different speeds Ajator had. Heath’s chest was shaking in laughter under Jayden’s cheek, and he couldn’t help but smile.

A laughing Heath was nice, even if it was at Jayden’s expense. Still, it didn’t mean Jayden wanted it to last too long, so he unburied himself and scowled at Keenan. “Are you done?”

Oh, and when you read the book, these are the pajamas that are mentioned in it 🙂

●Then, I have a new release with Dreamspinner Press on January 20. It’s a short story and doesn’t have shifters (I know, incredible coming from me!), but it’s close to my heart since it’s centered around a tradition I grew up with.  http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=7334

BenoitsSurpriseChristmas-Preview

Belgium expat Benoit Girault has only worked in the administrative department of Toys for All in Milwaukee for a few short months, but it’s long enough for him to miss everyone back home and to fall for coworker Jake Manning—not that Jake ever notices him. Or so Benoit thinks.

Jake notices Benoit all right, but he doesn’t want to risk mixing business with pleasure, not when it could create problems in the office. So when Jake’s friend and boss, Randall, tells him to team up with Benoit to organize a Saint Nicholas party, he’s less than thrilled. But as they work together and Jake nurses Benoit through an illness, he realizes some people might be worth risking it all for.

●And finally, I just signed a contract with Dreamspinner Press for a young adult novel. It’ll be out in May/June, so there’s plenty of time, but I’m very excited about it 🙂 and again, no shifters in this one!

New Release- Demi

Demi will be out tomorrow on http://www.extasybooks.com/Demi/

I know I didn’t do snippets for this one, but real life got in the way, what with Christmas shopping, the kid being home from school for a few days, and the fact that I’m packing because I’ll be moving to Rome in a few weeks. Buuuut, I’m posting an excerpt and the cover.

Enjoy 🙂

He knocked on Kameron’s office door, but no one answered. “Where is he? Anyone know?”

“He said he would be in his office,” Reed answered.

The door swung open, revealing a flustered Zach. He was wearing his T-shirt inside out and had an obvious hickey on his neck. Noah smirked at him. “Oh, I see why Kameron wasn’t answering.”

Zach slapped his chest. “Shut up.” He looked at Demi, then at Reed, and his eyes widened, probably at seeing Reed in the demons’ company. “You need Kameron?”

“This better be good,” Kameron growled from somewhere behind Zach, making Zach blush.

Noah snickered. “Do you want us to come back later? We were just going to tell you about Reed meeting his mate, and—”

Kameron’s head appeared at the door. “Wait. Reed met his mate? I left him in the kitchen with his mother, how did he manage that?” He looked past Noah and noticed Demi standing close to the wall, looking like he wanted to melt in the wood or run far away. “Oh, I see.”

“Good enough?” Noah teased.

“Yeah, yeah. Come in, all three of you. Although I’m not sure what you’re doing here,” he said, pointing at Noah.

“Supporting a friend.”

“Okay, come in, all three of you.”

There was an awkward moment when they had to decide who would sit where since there were only two chairs in front of Kameron’s desk. Zach was already settled in his mate’s lap and watched with an amused expression on his face. “You know, one of you could go get an extra chair from the closet.”

Noah hopped on the desk and settled on the edge of it. “Nah, we’re fine.”

Character interview

I did a little character interview for a blog post I needed to write, and who could I have interviewed but Keenan and Nysys? If you want to know more about them, find out what Nysys’ hobby is, what their greatest fear in life is, here’s the link https://mollylollyauthor.wordpress.com/2015/12/10/character-interview-keenan-and-nysys-by-catherine-lievens-whitedell-pride-books-10-and-13/
