Books I read in May

I know, I know. This post is kind of late, but I have a good excuse! My son got a stomach flu and he passed it on to me, so I’ve been sick for the past week or so. Now that I’m back to feeling human again, want to know what I read last month? It’s a fairly long list. I guess I was lucky to find so many great books this time 🙂

Chasing the rainbow- Kade Boehme

This is the kind of book you go to when you need sweet and reassuring. There’s very little angst, it’s funny, sexy, fluffy, all things everyone needs, which means you NEED this book! But it’s not only that. This book is also real. There’s no perfect character, no perfect dialogue, no perfect relationship.
I loved Jody. He’s gentle but not to the point that he lets others walk all over him. Jody knows what he wants and sticks to it even if it means he might not get the guy he wants, and it pays in the end.
Bobby…yes, I loved him too. He has to decide if Jody is worth coming out to his other, and we see him grow until he takes his decision and never looks back.
These two together? Adorable and sexy!
And a special mention goes to Carlo, Bobby’s brother, because he reminded me soooo much of my husband. Kade really nailed the Italian man here!

Latakia- J.F. Smith

This is a military romance. One of the characters is a SEAL, and it was interesting to see how Matt and Travis dealt with the DADT. I really loved this one (and Petey-gotta love Petey)!

Men of Honor series- S.E. Jakes

Military men and BDSM. Really good series if you like that kind of things 🙂

In the Absence of Light- Adrienne Wilder

I loved, loved this one so much I bought the paperback too. One of the main characters, Morgan, is autistic, and the way he sees the world is incredibly beautiful and so different from what we see. Even if he is autistic, he’s not disabled, far from it. He lives alone, has a job, and he lives a full life. His ‘disability’ is a part of him, but it takes second plan behind his sense of humor and his personality. The other half of the couple, Grant, is hesitant in the beginning, but Morgan quickly puts him in his place. I highly recommend this one!

Hard Hats series- the first books is by Kade Boehme and Piper Vaughn, the second one only Piper Vaughn

Both authors are automatic buys for me, so when I saw they’d written a book together I just had to have it. Niehter book deceived. The first one has a 16 years gap bewteen the two MCs (one is the best friend’s father of the other), while the other is about childhood enemies turn lovers. Loved both!

The Summer House- RJ Scott

I proofread this one for the author. Any book that makes me cry is a hit for me, so this one deserved my 5 stars. A veterinarian and a noble playboy, a small English town? Right up my alley! they both have a lot to work on, but it’ll be worth it, believe me.

#MySexySaturday week #96 A Good Ole Sexy Time

Photo of Milford Sound in New Zealand!

This week’s #MySexySaturday ‘s theme is A Good Ole Sexy Time. It’s about normal people, the boys next door, the men doing their chores. The excerpt is from Xavier, out June 15.

He waited for Xavier to finish before he grabbed him and pulled him in his arms, cradling his mate’s soft body against his as he slanted their lips together. Xavier squeaked a bit, but he soon opened his mouth to Andy’s tongue, and Andy was free to lick and suck and just kiss Xavier for a while. Xavier wound his arms around Andy’s neck, and Andy took it as the permission to pull his mate even closer. He wanted so much more, but he knew Xavier wasn’t ready. He just hoped that the fact that Xavier hadn’t slapped him or stormed out of the kitchen was a good sign that it meant that the man was starting to accept what they were to each other.

Andy released Xavier’s mouth only when he felt his mate’s knees buckle, but even then he didn’t let him go. He just leaned their foreheads together and waited for their breathing to calm down.

“What…what was that for?” Xavier asked, his voice trembling.

Andy smiled and kissed his mate’s nose. “Well, your apron does say kiss the cook, so I complied.”

Xavier blushed and moved away from Andy, just enough to see that his apron really did say that. “I hadn’t even noticed. Besides, it’s your apron, not mine.”

“Considering I can ruin boiling water, I’m happy to give it to you. It suits you.”

Xavier snorted. “It’s an apron. I don’t think it suits anyone. You’re just saying that so that you can use the excuse to kiss me again.”

#MySexySaturday week #95 Our Sexy Galaxy

Photo of Milford Sound in New Zealand!

This week’s #MySexySaturday ‘s theme is Our sexy Galaxy. Now, I’m not a Scifi author, but I do have some unconventional characters. I know it’s only six paragraphs, but the excerpt made a lot more sense like this, so… Anyway, it’s from my current WIP, book 4 in the Gillham Pack Series. For those wondering, it’s Duncan’s story, and he’s paired with a demon.

Demi jumped in the driver’s seat and Noah’s glance wandered toward Duncan. The man was whispering to his brother and Noah couldn’t hear what they were saying, but Duncan kept on looking his way, making the fact that he was the topic of the conversation clear.

Just as Demi turned the key in the ignition and started the car, Duncan walked closer and stuck his head through the open window on Noah’s side. He grabbed Noah’s face with both hands and kept him still as he pressed their lips together.

Noah gasped in surprise. He hadn’t expected the kiss, not after Demi had told Duncan they were a couple, but when Duncan slid his tongue between Noah’s lips and lightly stroked them, Noah didn’t protest. He gave in instead, opening his mouth a little wider and tentatively touching his own tongue to Duncan’s.

A hand on his arm pulled him away but Duncan held fast. He kissed Noah again, this time keeping his lips closed, and when they separated he reached in his pocket and took something out of it. He reached for Noah’s hand and pressed what felt like a piece of paper in it before kissing his cheek and whispering, “My phone number and address. Make good use of it.”

Only then did he step away. Demi didn’t wait for Duncan to try to get to Noah again. The car shot forward and Demi steered it outside the parking lot and on the road. Noah kept his hand closed around the note, wanting to keep it a secret. He knew Demi would try to talk him out of going to see Duncan, and he would be right to do that. Noah knew nothing good would come out of him going there or calling Duncan, but he couldn’t seem to stop himself from thinking about it.

He raised one hand to his lips and touched them in wonder, but he noticed Demi looking at him so he let it fall back in his lap.
